aboutus

STUDIO 8, has come from a love of art and design, and a recognition for the need of art classes for our kids. Today's child has so much going on, with more pressure and stress, than previous generations. And I have seen in my own daughters how creating art gives them the chance to express themselves and take a moment of reflective calm and creative focus away from tech and screens. By watching kids in class, it is obvious that they feel good when they are creating, experimenting and decision making through art. Art fosters creativity, which helps kids learn how to be flexible in their thinking & problem solve (aka an unexpected learning opportunity), a skill which will reap rewards in so many aspects of life. Creating art builds confidence, fine tunes motor-skills, and it's so satisfying and fun, let's not forget that part! Seeing a child take immense pride in a piece of beautiful art they have created, that is entirely individual to them, is a wonderful thing.

So when the opportunity arose in 2019 with the prospect of starting an art studio which I could run around the busy schedule of being a mom to 2 young kids, it was an immediate yes! With my own creative background and passions, it seemed a natural transition. The build of the garden studio started and here we are with a brand new studio, waiting to be filled with mini-masterpieces!

I have 17 years experience working in the creative industry, with a BTEC National Diploma in Illustration & Mixed Media from Chelsea College of Arts, and a BA (Hons) Degree in Graphic Design, from Camberwell College of Arts, at The London Institute.

Over 12 of those years were spent in London, designing textile & placement prints for the fashion industry, after which juggling motherhood and freelance design work, I became a partner for 'Not On The High Street'. Now time for a new adventure, running creative classes for all the amazing kids I feel lucky to have the privilege of helping make 'beautiful art'.

I am advanced DBS Checked and offer creative fun and artistic guidance in a relaxed, friendly garden environment. Hope to see you in the studio soon!
